When I had my paper, pencils, erasers and several pictures searching for references for a new Lempicka charicature for my series, nothing came out.
I was very sad and worried about some personal problems that day and I had that Joan Crawford by George Hurrell picture in front of me. I just started drawing. This was the result of my little frustrated moment. While I was making it, I laughed and thought by myself "Why would a woman look so sad in such a fur coat?!! If I ever had the weather and the money to have a fur coat like that I'd never look like that" And then I looked at myself and said "Damn, I've got so many wonderful things in my life, so many wonderful people around me, so many beautiful oportunities and experiences, why the hell am I that sad?!" My life is my fur coat. And I am happy with it. So sorry for Joan in her fur coat. So sorry so many people feel bad not even knowing how happy they are. This deviation is dedicated to *SalFish , hope you are feeling better dear And it was also made for this contest [link] held by =christiana My recurring themes are two in this deviation: Sadness and Glamour. Glamour is the main theme in my art as I believe women must believe and impose their glamour and feminine features in a world filled with masculine and feminist women. Sadness is a recurring theme for everybody, in any time of their lives and in any part of the world. Young or old, Man or Woman, Black or White, Rich or poor...You name it! Hope you like this guys!! Feel free to comment! Material used: *Mechanical pencil *2B, 5B, 6B, 8B pencils *erasers *A4 bristol paper (bristol rocks!!) *tissue *Around 40 hours of hard work!! (first time I ever counted the hours!) |

...:; Do you know we're in high demand, us, people who suffer? Cos we don't take to arguing and we're quick to surrender ;:...
By the way. Have I told you how much I love you... you are too nice to me, searously.

To be honest, the themes came without a need to impose them to the piece. The themes naturally imposed themselves.
So glad you relate to the description too. We all have these little frustrated moments, and art is a good way either to release the pain or to relate to.
I'll sure keep on creating, I can't live without my pencils!
Oh and thanks for adding me to the journal

Oh no! My little puppy disappeared from my avatar Click if you miss her!!
Believe you me, that fur coat was hell! The technique wasn't very hard, but it takes so long! Most of the time spent on it was for the fur coat...
And the drama, well, as I put in the description, my model was a Joan Crawford picture, and drama was her second name, hehe...
I am happy you liked it
